The San Francisco 49ers have traded up to the No. 3 pick, sending the No. 12 pick, a 2021 third round pick and first round picks in 2022 and 2023 to the Miami Dolphins.
The 49ers will be in the mix to select a quarterback at No. 3, but they don't currently have any plans to trade Jimmy Garoppolo. The top quarterbacks in the draft are considered to be Trevor Lawrence, Lawrence Fields and Zach Wilson.
The Dolphins have now essentially turned Laremy Tunsil into four first round picks and a third round pick.
Several NFL teams remain interested in trading for Deshaun Watson despite multiple sexual assault civil lawsuits against him.
The Philadelphia Eagles, Carolina Panthers, New York Jets, Miami Dolphins, San Francisco 49ers and Denver Broncos are interested in Watson.
The Houston Texans, however, have no interest in trading Watson.
Watson signed a four-year, $156 million contract extension last September that includes $111 million guaranteed.
"We need to know more facts before making a firm decision on a trade, but, yes, we're still interested," an NFL executive said. "How could you not be interested in Deshaun Watson possibly being your quarterback? The guy is an incredible talent."
The Chicago Bears made a serious play to try and acquire Russell Wilson from the Seattle Seahawks.
According to Dan Patrick, the Bears offered three first-round picks, a third-rounder and two starters for the quarterback.
The Seahawks were interested by the offer, but Pete Carroll ultimately declined.
Earlier this week the Bears signed Andy Dalton to help fill holes at quarterback.
The Carolina Panthers remain focused on acquiring Deshaun Watson in a trade with the Houston Texans, according to a report.
The Panthers view Watson as the single player that can suddenly make them a Super Bowl contender.
Watson is seeking a trade despite the Texans' refusal to move him to this point.
The Detroit Lions are finalizing a trade with the Los Angeles Rams for Michael Brockers, according to a source.
A first-round pick in 2012, Brockers has spent his entire career with the Rams.
The move will help L.A. shed salary. The defensive lineman signed a three-year, $24 million contract last offseason.
The Chicago Bears engaged in a "very aggressive pursuit" of a trade for Russell Wilson, but were told by the Seattle Seahawks no trade would be considered at this time.
The Bears were on Wilson's list of four teams along with the Dallas Cowboys, New Orleans Saints and Las Vegas Raiders. The Cowboys re-signed Dak Prescott last week, while the Saints have retained Jameis Winston and Taysom Hill. The Saints also have salary-cap issues that would make it difficult to absorb Wilson's $19 million base salary for 2021.
The Bears pivoted instead to signing Andy Dalton to a one-year deal.
The New England Patriots have traded right tackle Marcus Cannon to the Houston Texans in a deal that also involves a swap of mid-to-late-round draft picks, according to sources.
Cannon opted out of the 2020 season. Sources claim a catalyst for the trade was that he had not reported to the Patriots for a physical and workout -- because of COVID-19 considerations -- with the team's other players who opted out.
Cannon, a non-Hodgkins lymphoma survivor, is from Texas.
The New England Patriots have been getting trade inquires about former first-round pick N'Keal Harry, according to a report.
Harry started nine games at wide receiver for the Patriots in 2020.
He's due $2.75 million in 2021.
The final salary cap number for 2021 will "almost definitely" be $182.5 million, according to a report.
The figure would be a drop of $15.7 million from last year’s cap of $198.2 million due to financial losses incurred during the pandemic.
The new cap takes effect on Wednesday, March 17, at 4:00 p.m. ET.
